Board of Trustees Overall responsibility for management of East Lancs Advocacy. Board of Trustee members cannot also be volunteer advocates
Advocates One-to-one advocacy for adults to get their views across when dealing with health or social services professionals
Citizen Advocate Longer-term one-to-one advocacy and social inclusion with an adult with a learning disability, living in Blackburn with Darwen
Training/Talks Working alongside paid staff to provide training and presentations to other organisations, professionals and service users
Volunteer Training Facilitating our Volunteer Training - welcoming new volunteers and/or giving presentations about being a volunteer
Newsletter Contributing to the production of the Volunteers Newsletter
Visitors Afternoon Working alongside staff to facilitate our monthly Visitors Afternoon (for people who want to know more about East Lancs Advocacy)
Window Display Helping to set up/design our shop front window display to promote advocacy and volunteering
Display Stands Updating our display stand with information on advocacy
Open Days/Conference Staffing display stands, and talking to the general public to promote access to East Lancs Advocacy
Representing East Lancs Advocacy on External Groups Promoting East Lancs Advocacy, and what we do, by attending occasional groups/meetings hosted by other organisations
General Admin Office-based Admin tasks
Distribution of Leaflets Making sure our literature is available in a wide range of hospital and community settings
Advertising Volunteer Training Identifying places where we can advertise volunteer training eg websites, publications, media etc
Resource Library Helping to keep our resources up to date and catalogued
New Volunteer Enquiries Talking to potential volunteers about the role of a volunteer at East Lancs Advocacy
Covering Telephones during Staff Team Meetings Being the first point of contact for telephone enquiries and visitors. Taking and passing on messages
Identifying Community Groups where we can give Talks Using your local knowledge or networking skills to identify groups we can talk to about volunteering and/or accessing advocacy
Talking to the Media With support from paid staff, occasionally promoting East Lancs Advocacy through newspapers and radio
Advisory Group for Citizen Advocacy Project Being a member and/or finding potential members to support the development of the Citizen Advocacy Project
Social Events for Volunteers Co-ordinating social events for volunteers to help build the Volunteer Team
Supporting the Speak Out Loud Group Supporting a group of people with a learning disability who meet to share views and speak up
Staffing Advocacy Drop-ins on the Psychiatric Wards Being the first point of contact for patients who want to access East Lancs Advocacy
Staffing Day Centre Drop-ins Being the first point of contact for service users with a learning disability who want to access East Lancs Advocacy
Accompanying Advocates on Initial Home Visits One-off visits with a paid advocate to comply with safety procedures
Co-working with New Volunteers Acting as a mentor to less experienced volunteers through co-working
Recruitment of Staff Being involved in recruitment of staff eg by supporting service users to interview candidates
Leaflet Design Helping to review and design our literature when needed
Translation Translating literature into user-friendly and local community languages
Audio Recording Helping to put various literature on to CD ROM or tape
Devising Workshops on Own Specialisms Using your own knowledge and expertise to devise workshops for use in training volunteers or others
Working Groups Being involved in our working groups looking at issues such as Equal Opportunities, Recycling etc
